the rubber and plastic materials research laboratory is composed of the synthetic resin application research institute and the Synthetic Rubber Research Institute under Dushanzi Petrochemical Research Institute. Its main research directions are the high-performance and preparation technology of synthetic resin, the molecular design, preparation technology and engineering of synthetic rubber, and the structural analysis and application technology of rubber and plastic materials

in the past three years, the laboratory has undertaken and completed more than 50 scientific research projects, including the successful completion of two national science and technology support projects such as the engineering key technology development of rare earth cis-1,4-polybutadiene rubber, "a major special project in Xinjiang with an annual output of 10000 tons of rare earth cis-1,4-polybutadiene rubber industrial production technology", as well as a number of CNPC projects such as PE100 pipe material performance structure analysis, processing and application research, and special resin development. In addition, the laboratory applied for 12 invention patents (6 authorized), won 1 second prize and 2 third prizes of scientific and technological progress of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, 2 second prizes and 1 third prize of scientific and technological progress of CNPC, and published more than 40 papers
